🎄 December Is Here… And So Begins the Christmas Season

The moment December arrives, something shifts in the atmosphere. There’s an unspoken agreement that the Christmas season has officially begun. Music changes, décor comes out of storage, lights start glowing earlier, and families begin preparing traditions that will carry them straight into the end of the year.

For many, this month opens the door to a joyful, busy, nostalgic season—one filled with celebration, gatherings, gift giving, and reflection. And while all of those things are beautiful, it’s also a season that can easily pull our hearts in a hundred different directions.

This year, I decided to start the month intentionally—with something that keeps our family grounded in what matters most. Instead of jumping straight into lights and gift lists, we’re kicking December off with a Bible Christmas Countdown.

✨ A Countdown That Points Back to Christ

I wanted a tool that would help us:

Stay focused on the real reason we celebrate Christmas
Create meaningful nightly family devotion time
Build a rhythm of worship and gratitude throughout the month

That’s how our 25-Day Bible Christmas Countdown was born. It gives us a scripture focus each day, allowing us to reflect together as a family and turn the countdown into a nightly devotional.

In our home, this is especially important because we don’t celebrate the traditional idea of Santa Claus. No hate to those who do—it’s just not part of our family culture. For us, Christmas is about Christ, connection, devotion, gratitude, and celebration without the pressure to replace the miracle of Jesus with holiday fantasy.

What we do want is a tradition that strengthens faith—not distracts from it.

📖 A Devotional Rhythm We Can Return to Every Year

Each night, we read the verse of the day from the The Bible, discuss it with the kids, share what it means to us, pray together, and sometimes write a note or family activity inspired by the scripture in our printable notes column. It’s simple, calm, honoring, and full of meaning.

It’s been beautiful to see how scripture naturally opens heartfelt conversations around God’s promises, Mary’s obedience, Joseph’s faith, the shepherds’ worship, Christ’s arrival, and the joy and peace He brings.

When I couldn’t find exactly what I envisioned, I turned to a resource I use often in my work as a creator—OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Together, we built a clean, verse-filled, family-centered countdown we could save, share, and reuse.

And it hit me—if this is helping our home stay focused and consistent in devotion, maybe it can do the same for someone else.
