Spring Break is now upon us and to be honest I’m not the outdoors-y type. I’ll gladly stay home bundled in my comfiest lounge wear while binging on my favourite shows with my favourite snack surrounding me. But my girls are the complete opposite.
To be honest who can blame them? The oldest is five and the youngest is one. They are literally, kinetic energy personified.
This is why I’ve come up with some great indoor activities that are great for their growing mind.
So let’s get into it.
- Cooking!

Cooking is one of the best bonding activities between parent and children. It can be trying if you’re just trying something to eat. So if you’re really hungry I would avoid doing this as an activity.
These little ones were really curious and interested in learning how to cook. For me, I’m always thinking “How safe is it?“. I was glad to be able to see that with parental supervision they were able to cook their own breakfast without getting hurt.
The DASH Egg Bite Maker makes it really easy to create breakfast items that the whole family will enjoy.
2. Arts & Crafts

Nothing has kept my kids silently entertained the way that crafting has.
Was it messy?
Yes.
But that’s not the point.
It’s no surprise that when kids are given the freedom to explore, they are able to experience the joy of creating something they can be proud of. It also helps to develop their fine motors skills, boost counting and pattern recognition.
So let them get a little messy and bask in the silence of their creative genius.

3. Cleaning!

I was shocked when my five year old said, “I wish I could do household chores all day!”
Why? How? Because, personally, I hate doing chores.
But for her it was a way for us to bond. She had an opportunity to show me her big girls skills. She felt useful because she was empowered to tackle task that once was deemed unfit.
Put on some music and give them a wet rag. Watch them help you as best as they can.
I hope this list helps. If you have anymore ideas that would make your spring break easier, let me know.
